~About Me~ Rebecca Gould, LMP, CHHP
My own healing journey began after a nearly fatal car accident at the age of 16 in Mercer Island, Washington. I
started receiving Reiki, Massage, CranioSacral, and Acupuncture
regularly. The doctors were amazed by my "miraculous" physical
recovery. But emotionally, I was facing some depression. When I told my
bodywork therapist that I was considering taking medication, she showed
me the book Healing With Whole Foods and
referred me to a nutritional counselor. I started reading about food
and mood and became very interested in Taoism and Traditional Chinese
Medicine (TCM); my favorite books at the age of 17 were The Tao of Health, Sex, & Longevity by Daniel P. Reid and Paul Pitchford's Healing With Whole Foods. When
I attended Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, I continued
studying these topics in addition to creative nonfiction writing,
trauma, and memory. However, life took me on a little detour through 2
years of working as a legal clerk, 1 year of law school, and some
rock-hounding in Arizona, before I finally made it to the Heartwood Institute
in Garberville, California, to attend Paul Pitchford's Asian Healing
Arts & Whole Foods Nutrition Program. Early on in the program, I
completed Erica Boulangee's 50 hour week-long Hot Stone Massage Intensive and loved hot
stone massage so much that I decided to extend my program to receive
more Massage Therapy training.
Now I am a Board Certified Holistic Health Practioner (CHHP) through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and a Nationally
Certified, Washington State Licensed Massage Practitioner with more
than 1000 hours of training. I hold certificates in Asian Healing Arts
& Whole Foods Nutrition, Massage Therapy, Hot Stone Massage, Reiki
I & II, Upledger's CranioSacral Therapy I, Lomi-Lomi, Matrix
Energetics, Elderssage, and DeepStone LaStone Therapy. I am also in the process of becoming a certified Sheng Zhen Qigong instructor and teach classes at Anacortes Senior Center, Fidalgo Pool & Fitness, and Island Hospital.
Because
of my extensive experience as a client over the past 12 years, and the
excellent training that I received at Heartwood, I am extra sensitive
to my clients' needs, the complexities and multi-dimensional aspects of
healing, and I always treat my clients as I would wish to be treated:
with respect and gentleness, with kindness and compassion.
I moved to Guemes Island in October 2007 and then off the island and into Old Town Anacortes in May 2008. I have worked at Anacortes Health and Nutrition, as a Massage Therapist in the Chrysalis Spa at the Majestic Inn in Anacortes, and as an on-call Massage Therapist at the
Watergrass Day Spa at the Heron Inn in LaConner. But now I am devoted full time to my private practice, and I look forward to working with you! Wishing you health and happiness, sincerely, Rebecca
